Regrettably, some airlines appear to be taking the view that IF they operate the flight that day, they have fulfilled their contract with you.

It matters not one bit that if/when you get off the aircraft, you are either detained or deported!

Your option then is to claim under your TRAVEL insurance providing the FCO directive of essential travel is still in place.

I wonder if you turned up for your flight, could you 'clear' immigration/customs in Dublin? Would they actually let you through bearing in mind the restrictions? or would you be denied boarding?

If you are denied boarding, then you have entitlements from the AIRLINE under an EU aviation directive.

If the FCO directive of essential travel only remains, then you should be able to claim off your TRAVEL insurance.

It also sounds to me like some airlines are forcing passengers to redirect claims from them to their TRAVEL insurers.

There is also the question of section 75 and/or chargeback if your flight is cancelled and you opt for a refund but its not forthcoming.

There are options out there and some airlines are better than others, so take note for future booked flights!
