We've been to St Ag a few times, both for day trips and stopover of 2 nights/3 days and found it to be plenty of time. As it is compact it is easy to walk, but getting tickets for the Old Town Trolley ( trolleytours/st-augustine) is a good investment as this allows you unlimited travel so you can do a full loop and/or a hop on/off. Great for seeing the sights and getting back to somewhere if you need.
Nice places to eat and great coffee at the St Augustine Coffee House just off St George Street at the City Gate end.
