I've just watched A Castle for Christmas. An American romance author (Brooke Shields) comes to Scotland to visit a castle and of course the love interest is the Duke (Carey Elwes)

His accent drifts from Highland to Glaswegian with a bit of Liverpool thrown in. Got to be the very worst attempt at a Scottish accent I've ever heard. He used words like Dobber, walloper and divvy! I can't imagine a Duke speaking like this. I wonder if some Scottish dialogue coach was having a laugh!

The Scriptwriter must be American, though, because they used words like escrow and mayor (er, no, it's Provost in Scotland). And went from Edinburgh Airport to Dunbar (which is supposed to be in the Highlands but is just along the coast) by way of Inveraray Castle!

It's one of these films that's so bad it's good. Highly recommended!
