Ceiling: a curtain rail normally doesnt need much space - will there be no space at all if the ceiling is flattened out? i am with you on the curtains - we have thin curtains along ours and its great in case there is sun shining through or in the winter evenings to avoid feeling like a goldfish in a bowl.
