I have done the Norwegian Fjords a couple of times and it was lovely. The only downside to river cruising is lack of entertainment and activities on board the ship, if you can find a small cruise ship that will go up the rivers, or fjords, that's better option (Fred Olsen ships are small enough and do this, it means you get shows etc in the evening, not just a piano)
