Our garden is quite shaded, and quite narrow (not long, just wide and narrow behind our house) very difficult to do anything with! Hoping for new paving this year, if the landscapers can fit us in... we also have no depth of soil. No idea what the house was built on, but is so hard to plant anything. Will try post pictures.

Our soil is very heavy clay - it's either like a bog, or baked solid! We have 2 Japanese Acers that do really well in this soil and are really pretty small trees.
