I would have thought that as long as you had the insurance in place before the condition became apparent and the holiday already booked that this would be covered. We had a similar thing earlier this year ,holiday all booked and DW diagnosed with gallstones and awaiting surgery, gave insurance a call and they said it was covered as the holiday was booked before she had any problems.
