Friday 21st May

We were seriously running out of steam with food now as we don’t usually each so much in one go at home, so decided to cancel our dinner reservations for Friday and Saturday night and play it by ear instead. Luckily lunch was on the lighter side today as we were booked in for the Italian Afternoon Tea at our favourite Italian restaurant in Leeds- Livin Italy. This is an independent restaurant in the heart of the city serving authentic Italian cuisine. The Afternoon Tea is a new offering since they reopened and one we highly recommend as it was absolutely delicious. The best thing about this for us was that it was heavier on the savouries than the sweets!

Savouries
Mini Margarita Pizza

Mini Suppli (Rice Balls) with Black Pepper, Parmesan and Sage

Slow-Cooked Short Rib Beef Slider in a Mini Milk Panini with Fontina Cheese, Roast Potato and BBQ Sauce

Fried Polenta topped with Sauteed Broccolli Friarelli and homemade smoked BBQ Relish

Sweet
Mini Tiramisu

Strawberry Jam Italian Cake

Italian Chocolate Cake with Salted Caramel and Orange

There wasn’t a weak element to this tea, we genuinely enjoyed everything. Livin Italy make the best pizza dough there is, it is so soft and light, we love their takeaway pizzas. The Sliders are one of our favourite starters so we were pleased to see these on the menu. The polenta and rice balls were both really rich in flavour. The Tiramisu was creamy and not too heavy on the coffee. We loved the take on the traditional Jam Scone you see in Afternoon Tea with a piece of jammy cake.
We wouldn’t hesitate to do this again, a twist on the original format, lots of savoury options, filling and a delicious menu

You can choose between Prosecco or Aperol Spritz to accompany your Afternoon Tea but we obviously went for cocktails instead. This is the same menu that we have tried before but we love it so it wasn’t an issue to have these again.

My favourite is the Italian Mojito (Fresh Basil, Lime, Italian Citrus Liqueur, San Pellegrino, Limoncello Foam).
Not only does it taste delicious but it has the best cocktail glass I have ever seen!

Livin Prosecco Cocktail (Fresh Blackberry and Raspberry Puree, Prosecco, Limoncello Foam)

Cherry Amaretto Sour (Cherry infused Bourbon, Lemon Sherbet, Amaretto, Egg White)

Espresso Martini

Daiquiri

Mojito Fidel (Fresh Mint, Lime Sherbet, Chilli, Appleton Rum, Nostra Birra Pilsner)

Brett also couldn’t resist ordering these after dinner liqueurs again as they are like drinking melted chocolate- Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate
