You'll have a great time. When I was single I travelled solo all the time and now I do my theatre trips solo. Some people are lucky enough to have a friend who shares their passion for travel and their travel style but if not taking any friend along just to avoid being alone is not a good idea imo. There can often be tension as you try to make plans that please everyone and frankly if your pal isn't having a good time it can be a much lonelier experience than going solo. People who say take 'anyone' rather than go alone mean well but they play into the idea that being solo is the worst thing ever and that there's something wrong with being single or preferring your own company.
