A good decision to leave the red line when you did. The stuff over the bridge is interesting, but walking over the bridge itself is a step too far for me. It's a grid, not a pavement and I have been led across it twice with my eyes closed! Plus after you leave the Italian neighbourhood, there are no toilets and few places to grab a drink, and on a hot day it's murder. The bunker hill monument and the constitution can be seen on the open top bus too, so that's what we did the next time.
Also at Harvard, the last time we went, the guided tours were free, but they actively sought tips and the recommended tip was $10-15 per head.
We also love to coop, and found a great ice cream shop round the back street from there.
