Universal do say 13s and over. You will be asked to leave and escorted out if your child becomes distressed and its deemed to be interfering with others. There are no refunds. You will see children but rarely as young as 7

When you say your children watch horror? What sort of films? Have they seen Nightmare on Elm street, Saw, Friday 13th, Walking Dead? All films in the last couple of years they have realistically brought to life. My bet is on there being a Child's Play/ Chucky house this year to tie into the new films.

It's not just the images the use stuff in your face, mirrors, uneven closed pathways to aid disorientation. It's dark, smoky, loud music, all designed to distract.

Set pieces from the last couple of years include someone having their spine ripped out in the Shadybrook Asylum 25th Anniversary house complete with bone crunching blood, they have found a way to touch you and prod you without the actors getting close, limbs being sawn off and thrown around.

The actors will target children and chase them in the scare zones and the park is much busier than normal so you need to keep a grip on them.

It can be a very expensive trip if your children do get spooked and you have to leave, with express passes it will cost just over $200 per person for one night. There are no reductions for children.
