Eight have a blast in Warsaw, Feb 19. Day 3, Lazienki and Palace of Culture with pit stops

Monday 18th Feb

I woke early again with Martin sleeping soundly. I pottered about for a while then as soon as I heard next door I went into their room.
I do think we had the nicest apartment but I did miss having a sofa.
Steph had a terrible night sleep and told me the rich food had keep her on the toilet for most of the night and she had piles. She had taken some pain killers and we all agreed to stay away from Polish food today.
We had chosen to visit Lazienki Park today but didn’t need to be out by any time so we could take our time getting ready.
Martin woke and joined us, he couldn’t believe how much us ladies talked about our bowel movements.
I had a shower then Martin and I went around the corner for a coffee for him while the others finished getting ready. He had been here the previous day, they had a massive menu just for coffee.
He had a latte with soya milk and I had a small hot chocolate.

It was great catching up with him and watching the world go by.

We finished up and joined the others in Sandy’s room and left at 11. It was about an hours walk. We could have got a bus easily but it was another bright day and we said we would stop on the way.

We had to walk the same way as we did last night and that’s when we discovered all the bars.
About half hour into the journey it was time for our first pit stop.
Now, the bartender loooked like he was already having a bad day and then we walk in. We all had a beer.

And then Sandy noticed the shot menu, all only £1.

Well it’s rude not to at that price. We got the bar tenders attention, he was sitting at the end of the bar with his face in his hands clearly not loving life (you can just see him at the end in this photo) but he was very helpful and recommended the homemade limoncello.

Only myself, Linda, Sandy and Tracy had one.

They were really good, and we sipped rather than down in one.
We ordered another and Linda had something else.

We were tempted by the toastie menu but thought we had better crack on if not we would be there all day.
It was another good half hour and a few of us (including myself) needed the toilet. We got excited about seeing a red squirrel.

We came across a restaurant so we ran to the toilets, I called out to Tracy there were 4 cubicles which made Kim laugh.

I think the plan was just to use the toilets but Martin and Debbie were sitting down ordering drinks. We thought we may as well stop and have lunch here. I had a salmon salad and it was so good. It came with garlic bread as well.

Martin had this as well and Tracy had the chicken salad, the others had serious food envy.
Linda and Tracy decided to stay at the bar while the rest of us carried on to look at the castle.
We were on the outskirts of the park so it didn’t take long.

It’s well worth a visit.
We headed back to the others. Sandy took this on a bridge in the way back.

Linda and Tracy still had a drink so we all ordered a drink, Steph said she had enough culture for today so she was joining Tracy and Linda while the rest of us visited the Palace of Culture and Science to see the views of the city.
Time was really getting on and we had a 30 minute walk to the palace. It was dark by the time we got there.
Is is near all the shopping centers, so another part of the city we didn’t really get to see.

We walked around trying to find the entrance and we had to walk back on ourselves. It was 20 zl.
I hate lifts and heights but I did want to see the view.

We got a drink and snacks then messaged the others.

Martins infusion drink

We walked to meet the others and had a couple of drinks at a bar.

When you order vodka and coke, the vodka is in a shot glass.

We had a little collection

We then went to a cocktail bar.
I had a porn star martini

We then went back to the karaoke bar for one for the road which advertised it every night but the lovely man wasn’t here tonight. It was quiet though and Martin asked us the favorite part of the holiday. Then he came up with random games and we had such a laugh playing and generally acting silly. It was a really good end to a brilliant break. We still laugh about it now.
I had a quick drink in Steph’s room before bed.
