Do you have 3 hours in total? I think 3 hours would be enough time to see either Hollywood or Griffith Observatory, not both.

On a first trip the sights of Hollywood are probably more iconic - Walk of Fame, Ghirardelli and Disney Store, Chinese Theatre, Hollywood and Highland for a view of the Hollywood sign. You can do a tour of Chinese Theatre, go to Madam Tussauds or for lunch (there are the usuals in that area - Hard Rock, Dave and Busters, Buffalo Wild Wings) if you can’t fill the time walking around.

You will find the area declines as you walk father down from H&H, we walked to Kaley Cuocu’s star (Big Bang Theory is my favourite TV show) and the area wasn’t nice, it was a bit seedy and the shops were ‘specialist’
