Most Windows laptops have the factory reset as a partition on the disk. Usually on boot you press either one of the function keys or the DEL key to access the menu and do the factory restore.
Unless you get the specific OEM Windows 7 iso image you will end up with an unlicensed PC which will start to restrict usage. Basically a world of pain for you.
Better to factory reset and then upgrade to Windows 10.
What make and model laptop is it?
