Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Know Before You Go

inline imageStar Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a massive expansion to both Disneyland California and Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, Florida. As has already been announced by Disney and reported on the DIBB, the opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland is 31st May 2019 and 29th August 2019 for Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, Florida.

Below are some important details pertaining to Disneyland California, and it can be expected that Walt Disney World, Florida, may be very similar, although some changes will undoubtedly be ushered in as Disney learns and adapts from the DLC opening experience.

Capacity for Disneyland Park, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and its experiences is limited. Access to the park, land and experiences may be restricted or unavailable depending on Guest demand and other factors. Park tickets, Annual Passports and vacation packages and Disneyland Resort hotel stays do not include special provisions for or guarantee access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

To visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park between May 31, 2019 and June 23, 2019, Guests will need valid theme park admission and will be required to make a no-cost reservation, subject to availability, to access the land. Guests staying at 1 of the 3 Disneyland Resort hotels during these dates will receive a designated reservation to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during their visit (one reservation per registered Guest); valid theme park admission is required.

Beginning June 24, 2019, a separate reservation for the land will no longer be required. Information on how to make a reservation and details about the reservations will be available at a later date.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will not be available during Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning at Disneyland Park.

Disney FASTPASS service and Disney MaxPass are unavailable for attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not be available at the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and will open later this year.

If you do not have a reservation to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort you will NOT be allowed entrance to the land. There will not be any stand-by admission for access to the land during this period. Beginning June 24, 2019, a separate reservation for the land will no longer be required.

Reservations will not be available for any Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge food and beverage locations. For your convenience, there will be various quick-service dining options within the land, including:
  • Oga’s Cantina
  • Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
  • Milk Stand
  • Ronto Roasters
  • Kat Saka’s Kettle
Height restriction for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is 38" (97cm)

It is advisable to have the Play Disney Parks App downloaded and running on your smartphone when you enter Galaxy's Edge because it will automatically switch over to a Star Wars datapad app once you enter the land, unlocking some missions, telling stories and outlining details about the land It will also give you a way to interact with your surroundings.

Rumour has it that you will you will be able to use the app to read the seemingly unreadable signs that are written in some outer space language, you may be able to hack droids and receive messages from various characters around the land.
