A lot of SSR trees aren't native to Florida. Some are remnants of the old Institute and some are from New England to give the NY State feel. However they are shallow rooted and in Hurricane Irma took a hammering hence the $800K clear up bill for SSR.
I agree some are lovely and add to the feel, some though can best be described as scabby.
Edit. There isn't 1 palm tree in SSR, Wonder who can spot where the nearest one is - I know! See more...
