At 6am our final ‘work alarm’ for nearly 3 weeks went off, and we finished our final chores around the house and packed the final bits and pieces. We both worked 8am to 4pm, and I popped out to my leg waxing appointment at lunchtime, and then popped to my sister’s to leave some keys with her as a couple of packages that were supposed to have arrived over the weekend had failed to materialise so she offered to pick them up for us.

Once home and changed, we took ourselves and our luggage downstairs to wait for our airport car to take us to Heathrow. The car was 10 minutes late but we have several significant sets of roadworks going on in the area at the moment so it wasn’t too bad. Before we knew it, we were on the road!

We arrived at the Premier Inn on Sheffield Road (near Terminal 3, I think) at Heathrow airport at 7.20pm, where we checked in and headed straight to the restaurant, as we had pre-paid for the meal deal (£26.49 per person for 2 course dinner with drink, and breakfast – this represented about a £20 saving for us compared with our normal airport spend, so seemed like a good deal). There was a 30 minute wait for the table so we popped back to the room so I could sort out what we needed for the morning before dinner.
Once back downstairs, we were quickly seated. I had the pie, Matt had the BBQ chicken melt (the chicken katsu that he wanted was sold out). For dessert, I had the strawberry frozen yoghurt, and Matt had the crownie (cookie brownie) with cherry sauce.

Back at the room, we both took a shower and got ready for bed. I was in bed asleep by 9.30pm, ready for our 5.30am alarm the next morning.
