It’s definitely worth doing this closer to home (ie a running store near to you).

If there are subsequently problems with the fit and they are lightly used they’ll usually swap them for different make/model.

Plus, if your son is a serious runner a good local relationship with their advice etc can be invaluable.

The prices are quite eye watering at FTR too.

Final thing to think I about is whether his feet would be the ‘normal’ size, sometimes the hot weather and lots of walking can make a difference. So for me this would be another reason to do it at home.
