Most M8 bolts will have a 1.25mm thread pitch (1mm is usually for M6 bolts). This is what you need to watch out for. If it doesn't say it will most likely be a 1.25mm thread pitch, not a 1mm.
You are looking for a furniture bolt with a flange head, although you may find more choice in a hex (socket) head format. See more...

Thanks - I dont own (or intend to purchase) any tools . I have an Allen key and a small worn Philips and after this DIY lockdown experiment I will only buy preassembled furniture (which I actually thought this was - a Dutch company that didnt explicitly state it was build your own else I wouldnt have really gone for it)
Thank for your help - i will see what happpens tomorrow. Ideally I want ti sorted so I can movie it outside or into my shed but at the moment it is taking over my office/study .
PS I did google and order what I thought was right (from amazon) but what came wasnt right when arrived hence why I am asking the wonder Dibb DIY experts as I dont trust my own judgement
