This summer, Universal Orlando Resort will debut its next original concept dining experience – Bigfire – a full-service restaurant that draws modern inspiration from the nostalgia of cooking over open flames during memorable family vacations, from camping to backyard barbecues to lakeside retreats. The all-new restaurant will feature a specially created menu that takes open fire cooking, one of the earliest styles of preparing food, to a whole new level – and brings to life a unique dining experience that only Universal Orlando could create.
Bigfire will feature unique theming designed to make guests feel as though they have stepped into a lakeside summer house, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of relaxed summer evenings spent by the water, surrounded by friends and family. The two-story venue will feature natural design elements of mix and matched fabrics and seating, cast iron, twinkling lights, camp lanterns – and even a canoe suspended from the overhead rafters – to complete the outdoor ambience inside the restaurant. And guests will be able to enjoy one of the most popular fireside treats– s’mores – which they will be able to prepare themselves right at their table.
At the heart of the venue will be a custom wood fire grill where chefs will prepare signature dishes inspired by the style of open-fire cooking – but with a significant and modern twist. Inspired by the way food would be prepared on an open campfire, chefs will carefully match each food with wood species that have been carefully chosen based on the flavor they exude, resulting in delectable dishes, sides, desserts – and even cocktails – that all infuse the smoky spirits. From Cherrywood to Pecanwood and more, the pairings will add bold, delicious flavors to create elevated American fare and unique entrees, including a signature bison burger, coffee, chili and cocoa rubbed top sirloin, delectable freshwater trout, mouth-watering smoked salads and more.
Bigfire will be another example of what happens when the Universal Creative team that designs world-class theme park attractions partners with Universal’s award-winning culinary team to create incredible dining experiences for guests. When it opens, Bigfire will become the next highly-themed, original concept restaurant at CityWalk, and join other popular experiences such as The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, NBC Sports Grill & Brew, The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar and more.
