Hi there We went to Harper Adams yesterday too. Got there nice and early and had a coffee and shared a sausage bap!

Just me and DD went as DH was working. It was a nice drive along an A road and took about an hour and 20 minutes from where we are in Worcester.

We are unsure about the live feed business for half of the lectures to be honest for the vet med course. The 4 times a month trip over to Keele doesn’t bother DD as once a week you have to travel at the uni in Bristol. We did sit in on the bio vet course talk which would be DD’s 5th choice but she thinks it wouldn’t tax her enough so if she didn’t get on a vet med course she would take a gap year and reapply.

I ended up doing a list of pros and cons whilst they were off doing the 3 hour modules and there are as follows:

Cons

Half the lectures will be via a live feed
Course new so not accredited by RCVS (but then neither is University of Surrey which DD likes the look of)
Campus isolated and not in a big town
2 main buildings at HA and Keele not yet built

Pros

Farm and small animals on site at Harper Adams
Specialist buildings being built at both sites so will have all the facilities
Course involves practical from start
Keele specialises in scientific part and HA actual animals so best of both worlds?
New course so constantly being monitored by RCVS
Not far from home
Accommodation reasonably priced (I did prefer the rooms in the self catered block as newer and nicer)
Self contained campus with free frequent shuttle bus to nearest town 5 minutes away
The campus felt extremely safe as parents could walk around on their own - big tick as I am worried about safety if DD goes to Bristol
It is similar to Hartpury where DD is at the moment doing alevels and she loves it there.

So there are far more pluses than minuses at the moment but it is our first open day so we shall see. We will go to the Keele open day to see that side of things and decide DD’s home site if she applies.

Next open day is 14th June at Bristol then 15th at Keele.
