Our Epic 7 Day NYC Trip - Day 4

This morning we were up early again and decided to go to the American Museum of Natural History, it was looking clear that our friend wasn’t going to get better soon enough, but we’ve promised to properly catch up when we visit again.

We walked to Columbus Circle and caught the subway to 81st street.

There was a short queue to get In again and we went through the usual security bag checks.

We were both hungry and it was now around 11am so decided to go to the food court in the basement for a quick and early lunch, its a buffet style here where you can pay for your food by weighing it and paying by the LB.
We purchased a mix of pulled pork, mac and cheese and potatoes and it came with a bread roll. It was standard basic food court food but wasn’t bad.

We then took the elevator to the top of the museum and made our way back down to the bottom, visiting the dinosaurs (the Titanosaur display is incredible) and had a look at the big island statue (the dum dum one from night at the museum) and the big whale display in the oceans section, as well meteorites and the Hayden planetarium before visiting the discovery room where our friend normally works. This is a great room where you can meet and hold bugs, small reptiles and other animals and is a great area for kids.

You would need at least a week to see everything in this museum and we were sad to have to rush by so much of it.

We left around 2:30pm and we walked to the Levain Bakery a couple of blocks away on Amsterdam Avenue and picked up some of their famous cookies - now I am not exaggerating when I say that these were the best cookies Ive ever eaten and they’re so much better then the cookie at the polite pig at Disney Springs.
We bought 4 and it took us 3 days to eat them between us. They’re also humungous.

We caught an Uber back to the hotel and put our feet up for a bit.
Dan wanted an accessory for his DJI Pocket camera so at around 5pm we caught another Uber to a Best-buy on 5th Ave. We were in and out of the shop quickly (with said accessory) and then caught another Uber to 41st street to visit midtown comics. We liked a few things in here but didn’t buy anything.

We then walked to 42nd street to “The Ride” pickup area just outside Starbucks and facing Madame Tussauds. We got a Starbucks whilst waiting and the queue was already forming 30 minutes before departure. When boarding as we were close to the front of the queue we were able to get front row seats.

Our hosts Scott and Jackie were hilarious and although this tour was super cheesy it was good fun. For those who don’t know - The Ride is a large bus in which everyone faces the street instead of forwards, there are party lights, music and its stops at several places where entertainers are waiting to either Dance, sing or do other fun acts.

The ride was 75 minutes in total and we enjoyed it throughly. After the ride we walked through Times Square and visited the loos in the M & M’s shop, I also purchased some strange M & M’s for work such as Mexican Jalapeno, cheesecake and mint.

We then walked back to the hotel, we stopped at Rays Pizza on the way and ordered 2 cheese slices and some cheese fries and were back at the hotel around 9pm.

We watched some TV and caught up with social media and we off to sleep shortly after.
