Viva Las Vegas, Spice and Cowboys Day 2

Viva Las Vegas, Spice and Cowboys - Day 2

Me Dissuziq – Age old enough to know better, WDW nut, works hard, plays hard and addicted to organising.

Brother Dave – Age younger than me doesn’t let me forget it! , Chief Dibb Mickey taker but loves WDW.

Monday 10th December

Our First full day in LV but no time to rest as there was sightseeing and shopping to be done!. The time zone meant that it was a 5.30am when we were both wide awake, so it was TV on to see the local news channel and the today show. We were up dressed and ready for Breakfast at 8am, went in search of our breakfast buffet at the Bayside buffet only to find that it was closed for renovations so it was the Raffles cafe for breakfast, very nice atmosphere so it was oatmeal and fruit for me and toast for BD.

I noted that the group next to us were breakfasting on Burgers fries and gateaux, or was it last nights dinner it was a bit hard to tell in LV as inside the casino’s you cannot see daylight or night. The slot machines still had I’m sure the same people sat at them as they had when I had passed the night before and the day after? Or maybe they just look the same with a dazed drunken glaze and ashen face from lack of daylight. We were in the lift going back to the room and spoke to a Scottish lady only to find that the lift was full of British and no Americans, we all laughed as it seemed that LV was full of brits and cowboys, these were easy to spot check shirt, wrangler jeans cowboy hats and the cowgirls had big hair and diamante appliquéd blouses.

Today we set off to the shops at Caesars Palace, via the two monorails, one from the Mandalay bay to the Excalibur and across the walkway bridge to the MGM and then bought a day ticket ($9) on the LV monorail went from MGM to Caesars Palace Forum Shops for a look around.

Wondered around the stores, Victoria’s secret, Gap and Express being the favourite, catched the show where the Caesar statue comes to life then on to lunch, unsure where to go but spotted Cheesecake factory, good choice. We were seated straight away and I had Chicken salad and burger for BD.

After Lunch we decided to go down to the convention centre to see if the cowboy tat show oops sorry The Cowboy Christmas Show and then get the free shuttle to the Rodeo that evening at the Thomas & Mack Centre but we were fed up after 1 hour and took the monorail back to the MGM and back to the hotel to have a rest as the time zone and early start was catching up with us.

The TV had the Rodeo finals from the night before on the TV so we had an idea of what to expect then we were on our way after one false start getting the shuttle bus from the Luxor Hotel, could not find the shuttle stop so ended up getting a cab from the front of the hotel. We were soon in the Coors beer tent watching the dancers on the bar and eating steak from the BQ.

We went in search of our seat, what a fantastic night the show and the riders were spectacular and finished at 10pm plus a 10 minute taxi queue(well organised) back to the hotel ready for day 3.
