Excited about Disney

Sounds amazing.
We went to Khao Lak last summer which is only around 45 minutes north of Phuket. We mostly relaxed (as much as you can with 2 young kids) but we did do a trip to Phang Nga bay which took us to James Bond Island on a longtail boat / Sea Canoeing / lunch at a floating village and a cave temple which was really good. We also went to Phang Nga Elephant Park as they offered a family experience.
I've been to Bangkok before and really liked it too. We did the usual temples and a trip to a floating market and one to Ayutthaya.
