This reminds me a bit of my grandma who used to insist you had to put all plug power switches to off even if nothing plugged in, otherwise they could start a fire, and my mates’ mum in 1985 who used to cover the VHS with a sheet, so the clock wouldn’t attract burglars at night.

My mum and dad used to think you had to turn the gas she water off when you went on holiday as well.
That’s okay... the issue we have is in the summer it’s upwards of 4o degrees and the boxes fan comes on and gets very hot! So we tend to turn it off in the summer months?

We always left everything on in U.K.

My nan wouldn’t put the kettle between6-6.30pm as everyone in the street was using the power and she got less as it took longer to boil !
