We went with homeaway/ when we booked a villa. Found one in Davenport which was absolutely great. We searched for the amount and no of bedrooms and did a couple more criteria:

Had to be rated 4*
Needed to have more than 20 different reviews (all of which at least 4*)
Needed to be a Premier Partner
Owner was willing to answer queries within 24hrs

We then looked through all of those that fitted the bill and then filtered with a couple of other things we wanted:

Private Pool
Games Room
Air Con
Satellite TV

The owner of the villa we found also had other property over the world and we looked through those reviews so we felt pretty happy with what we picked. When we arrived it was even better than we thought it would be. We emailed first to discuss the property and went from there. Booked it through the website. All good.
