DD has been today to see a girl from Yorkshire who she made close friends with while they were at the Priory together

That girl ( after leaving the Priory to return home ) had a spell in a mental health unit that wasn’t an eating disorder unit . They clearly didn’t know how to handle patients with eating disorders and kept her in for six weeks without access to a phone ( either to ring or use the internet ) and didn’t allow ANY visitors , including her mum / family
Not surprisingly she went massively backwards on that period.
Thankfully she has recovered , and while not free from illness , now has a baby to look after

She was told of the last few years of another girl who was in the Priory with DD
This girl’s parents are from the Lake District . Do their daughter was in for a good while in Altrincham ( about 80 miles ) . As she wasn’t doing well there, she was transferred to Edinburgh ( 150 miles from the lakes ) , before eventually being transferred back to Altrincham . She has very recently been released after spending a total of 5 YEARS ( without a spell out of hospital )
Her sister also has struggled and spent 3 or 4 months in a unit near us in Bury during the period above
What an impossible situation for everyone - I really hope she manages to flourish now having been released , but from experience that will be incredibly difficult especially after 5 years in hospital

The above just makes me realise even more how grateful we should be that
- we got to a unit near us ( 25 miles )
- it was a specialist eating disorder service
