This contains all of the memories, magic, messups, bust ups, illnesses and bad decisions of a completely honest trip report.

I'd considered writing it a number of ways including a version in which I kept my opinions to myself. I didn't want to write one long moan. In the end though I think trip reports like mine have their place alongside the ones where everything goes to plan. I'd like to think writing about some of our lows might help someone plan a smoother holiday.

I think it's important to emphasise that I enjoyed this holiday. My nephew had an absolute ball whilst we were out there. He said it was the best holiday he'd ever had. We went back to things we couldn't wait to do again and we did lots of wonderful new things. We only had one bad meal for the whole three weeks. So please don't be put off. This holiday got better and we miss it already.

It is with the biggest regret that I must confirm there will be no further updates to this report. After several years of attempting to obtain the remainder of my notes and photographs I can now confirm that they have been destroyed for good. I still read this report occasionally and it has brought me a lot of pleasure both in writing it and reading it even years later. Thank you so much for your amazing comments and for the words of support I received when crisis hit. I now have a new trip on the cards and the pre trip report for this should be up shortly. Im subscribing... Ive been looking forward to reading this one after your post last week, I love an honest trip report, I suppose not every trip will go to plan (including my own) so hats off to everyone that can admit the ups and downs.

Thank you for sharing I prefer to read a warts and all report! I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to make the holiday perfect that when things don't go to plan they seem like such a big deal. Reading about others mishaps make you realise it's not just you that has them. We certainly had a few stressful moments on our holiday which we can laugh about now but which were not funny at the time and I will include them in my report too. Look forward to reading more
