Florida in Europe? Disney (Cruise) and Theme Parks - Day 2 - Port Aventura

Tuesday 18 August – Port Aventura

We woke up about 9am ahead of our reservation at 10.15 in the hotel for breakfast, we were ready for 9.30 and luckily breakfast wasn’t busy so we were seated early. Harriet was pleased that they had her favourites chocolate milk and churros! Breakfast was good as was the coffee (always important!)

Weather was overcast and drizzly but not cold, so we decided to go to the supermarket in the car, plan was to buy snacks, drinks and Harriet was keen to try Spanish Candy! Next to the supermarket was a Decathlon sports shop and Harriet got some Nike trainers, new sports shoes for school was on the summer to do list so good to get it done whilst on holiday! Harriet was really pleased with her Nikes which are black and pink.
Was bought some lunch in the supermarket and ate it back at the hotel, en route back to the hotel it rained really hard, glad we weren’t in the them park or on the beach! We also bought in the supermarket wine at €2 a bottle, it was good and I’ll be able to take it on board the cruise ship to enjoy next week.
Back at the hotel we chilled with a coffee and then Harriet went for a swim whilst I read my book. Rain has stopped by this time but not much sunshine today.

We decided to drive into the local town / village Salou, but there was nowhere to park so we came back to the hotel, managed to park on the outside overflow car park rather than the scary underground area!

We went to have a look around the inside of the hotel and ended up in the bar with a raspberry slush and a Damm Lemon beer. Harriet went for another swim before we got ready for our dinner reservation at 8pm in the hotel restaurant.
Buffet dinner had a Mexican theme and there was a wide selection and food was good, Mexican is one of Harriet’s and I favourites.

After dinner we went back and changed into our trainer and went back to the park, we did some exploring and a few rides (limited selection of rides as we had to avoid the roller coasters due to Harriet’s shoulder operation and injury)
We thought it was just after 10 and we decided to go back to the hotel, however on the way out say a clock and noticed it was actually 11.10 and my watch was slow! The parade was therefore about to start and we watched it, the theme was ‘Happy Birthday’ as its 20 years since the park opened (1995-2015).
Then the ‘Fiesta Adventure’ show started which was lights, boats and fireworks around and on the lake, we weren’t that impressed especially when compared to Disney! Harriet bought an Elmo in the shop on the way out, Elmo is one of the characters linked with the park and there is a Sesame Street area - Sesamo Aventura.
We were back at the hotel by 12.30 and asleep by 1am.

Chocolate milk and churros sounds like my kind of breakfast!

Sounds like a really good idea to tour the park in the evening, probably much cooler.
