This time next week I'll be on a plane travelling to Perth via KL
I'm flying with Air Malaysia with a short break in KL airport
Spending a week in Perth then flying to Auckland for a week staying with school friends then to Sydney staying with more friends for a week
They've asked if I've any 'must do' things in Sydney
I've said Harbour and Opera house
Any other ideas ?
Am also planning what to pack as I'm also doing a 10 day tour seeing Ayres rock,Alice Springs, Kings canyon Gt Barrier reef Hamilton Island prior to returning to Perth
Will be away just over 6 weeks
Will be travelling alone so not sure if excited or nervous at the moment
Am at the let's blitz the house stage
Are there any essentials people recommend to pack
Travel insurance visa and passport all ok
Have currency and pre paid FairFX multi currency card

we only had just over a day in Perth but we went on a day trip that was brilliant - Pinnacles, Caversham (feed kangaroo's! ) and sand boarding, highly recommended.

We went to Uluaru for both sunset and sunrise - amazing!

In Sydney, we went on a dinner cruise one evening which was lovely to see the city (incl bridge and opera house) all lit up from the water. We enjoyed the tour of the opera house and had fish, chips, potato fritter and mushy peas on Bondi Beach which was pretty cool (and very tasty too )

Helicopter ride over the GBR was amazing.

Got to be honest and say, for me, the highlight out of everything (we also went to Bali, Darwin and Singapore) was holding a koala at Australia Zoo near Brisbane (about 10 mins) and stroking a tiger cub!

Go and see the Blue Mountains as a day trip from Sydney, stunning.. even better if you can do some bushwalking there.

Sydney Aquarium is good, The Rocks, Darling Harbour, go to the top of Centre Point tower for some amazing views and walk through the Botanical Garden to Mrs Macquarie's chair for some lovely harbour and opera house views.

Beaches.. Bondi and Manly (latter by ferry)

Hunter Valley is also a good day trip if you like wine

Get out to a wine region in either Sydney or Auckland. Make sure no one has to drive, do a bus tour.
Blue Mountains, Chinese gardens in Sydney.
Pack lots of sun cream, a good hat, sun glasses, light floppy long sleeved tops and insect repellant

I would agree that the pinnacles are definitely worth the trip from Perth, as is Caversham. We did a dolphin cruise from Perth too (from Hillary's boat harbour where the aquarium is) and also a day trip over to Rottnest Island where we hired bikes to get around.

Fremantle and Yanchep national park are also worth a visit. There a few things to visit in the centre too including the bell tower, the Perth mint and King's park. There are some nice shops around Leederville too.

The swan valley has lovely wineries too.

In Sydney definitely climb the bridge if you can, its amazing and visit the blue mountains.

Enjoy your trip.

Freemantle is a must if your are in Perth. Do the prison tour and visit the Little Creatures Brewery by the harbour for some decent beer which will make a change from all of the other rubbish they sell around Australia.
