3's Feel at Home
As anyone used 3's 'Feel at home' service for data when in US ? It seems like incredible value especially compared to £5 per day that Vodafone charge but there are lots of report on the internet that 3 are throttling data usage when abroad. I was thinking of using it on long car journeys in some sort of MIFI device to keep the kids happy but I don't know how bad this throttling is in reality so I am looking to see if anyone else has tried this

Yes , we have all used it for the last 18 days in our phones . You only get 3G so it can be a little slow .
We've been in Nevada , California and Arizona and id say we've had coverage 90% of the time . You can't use it as a hot spot though , if you want the kids to use it they will need a phone and SIM card each . Doesn't work in tablets either . |

As above we used it last Summer from New Mexico through to California (mainly for Waze GPS on the road) and had good coverage and data most places including some areas where coverage is supposed to be patchy.

Both my son and I used it last summer on our phones without issue. It was a bit weak in Yosemite NP but other places were fine.

Not like DB to be wrong on anything ever but I have used Feel at Home on my iPad in both Australia and Florida with no problems.

Sarcasm much ;-)
I only know that last year I had two feel at home sims which I cleverly thought we could use in our ipad not phones.. I put them in and for the first two days they did work then we got a message flash up saying not compatible in tablets, and they would no longer work in the ipads only in the phones. I thought I'd plead ignorance and rang 3 and they told me (and I don't know why but I assume because people use more data on ipads) the sim cards were specifically for phones not ipads hence the message. Didn't bother trying it this year just put a sim in each of our phones that worked perfectly. |

Would never be sarcastic to you DB. My iPad sim is a dedicated mobile BB sim that I use in the UK all the time and it's on contract, maybe the PAYG sims are not iPad compatible.
