Yes card needs to have your name on it. Be it CC or DC

Just on this point I've paid for my rental in advance. Will they use my debit card to on cover the 20% you refer to?

A friend used his pal's cc for the counter 'swipe' against a pre-paid contract booked in Europe - I don't remember which hire supplier but they were happy enough to accept his friends cc. I'd give this a try in your shoes, or perhaps apply for another card against your wifes account in your name.

I regularly make bookings for my sister in law, with Alamo, where I Amex pay for the hire. Alamo have no issue taking her cc during the OLCI/Skip the Counter process.

Hi Helen... whilst my friend was able to pick up his hire after his pal swiped his cc, likely the safe option is a second card in the drivers name.

Hope you're still enjoying your stay, 3 month goes fast tho!

there is no hold for prepaid rentals (except for extras such as fuel, booster seats, and so on)

in any event, you can prepay with any credit/debit card

you will need to present a debit/credit card in the name of the lead driver at the counter or at the gate. This one does not need to be the same as the one you used to prepay

note that, if you do skip the counter, they'll ask for a CC (or debit) in the name of the lead driver, and that's the card you'll need to show at time of pick up

I never prepaid with Alamo in 2015, they didn't hold any money on my DC. Nor did they take any payment until 5 days after my return home.

debit cards are accepted as long as you have a return plane ticket.

but the Card used at time of pick-up MUST be in the name of the lead driver.
Unless they overlook this, you won't get the car.

as PP mentionned, you need to be the lead driver (cancel and rebook), assuming you have a drivers license
and you'll need to pay for an additionnal driver.
Never ever had to show a return ticket or even asked if I had one when we have paid by debit card at MCO... Do you have experience of having to show one?

I have never heard of anyone being asked to show or provide a return ticket and think it's an historic thing from years gone by.
We all know you may get a hold placed on your card but again on occasions you don't!
