NYC, LA & Vegas - Pre Travel Day
Index here
So the day had finally arrived, pre travel day! I worked a half day, finishing up in the office at 12.15pm. I drove home and then Aaron dropped me at my local nail salon while he went off to get a KFC. I opted for a hot pink shellac finish before Aaron walked our dog to pick me up & we headed back home. We loaded the car with cases & drove the 5 minutes to Aaron's moms house to pick up Laura. We hit the road at 2.15pm, making a quick pit stop at McDonalds for me and Laura, I had my normal sweet chilli chicken wrap meal & Laura had some Selects. We grabbed petrol and then really got on our way, unfortunately, part of the M6 had been closed due to emergency bridge repairs so the traffic was really bad. We crawled along & the normally 1.45hr journey took just over 3 hours. In hindsight, I think we did okay, the junction with the bridge re opened in time for us to stay on the motorway. Aaron's grandparents had left home at 10am the same day and reached Blackpool at 7.45pm having followed the diversions and been at standstill on the A roads for 5 hours! Nightmare. We pulled up at the Trafford Centre West Premier Inn just before 6pm & checked in fine. The rooms were standard PI quality. (Stock photo) We soon freshened up and head over to the Trafford centre deciding to take the car as I wouldn’t be drinking anyway. We had a quick look at a few shops, I bought a babygrow in Boots and Aaron also picked up some sun cream. Aaron grabbed a Latte from Starbucks and I got a croissant for tomorrow’s breakfast. £3.99. Hungry now, we head over to Las Iguanas and put our name down for a table, it was really busy for some reason but we only had to wait 30 minutes. I had a BOGOF Virgin Colada, Laura had the same & Aaron stuck with a D.Coke, £12.75, Laura paid for these. Food wise, we had some of the Brazilian Cheese Balls while we decided what we wanted for mains. I went for the Beef Burrito, Aaron had the coconut chicken curry & Laura had a couple of the Tapas dishes, Beetroot & Haloumi tacos & butternut squash & coconut tacos. The food was all really good & came to a total of £44.00. Laura insisted on paying & we covered the tip. Before we head back to the hotel, we made a pit stop at Baskin Robbins (in the cinema) where Laura & Aaron both grabbed a sweet treat. 2 scoops each @ £10.00, Laura paid again! I seem to have lost my sweet tooth since finding out I was pregnant so I went without. We head back to the hotel, had quick showers and then went to bed. |

Yea Las Iguanas is a massive favourite of mine, Aarons not as leen as Mexican isn;t his fave but he always finds something.
I think that might be the only mocktail I had all trip! I did ask a fai few places but they didn't seem to be popular in the US, I just ahd to stick to water or the occasional Diet Coke when I was desperate for something a bit tastier. |
