NYC, LA & Vegas - Day 8

Index here

I woke up at about 8.30 today and got Aaron up at 9am. We arranged to meet Laura downstairs at 10.30am but she text me at 10.30 saying she was going to be late so we head down without her. We found a lovely little place to get a snacky breakfast, I got a chocolate milk and a donut, Aaron got a Latte.

We found Laura shortly afterwards and headed to the car, we drove to the Bellagio to save our feet. As its another MGM property we could park for free using our room key to access then car park. The lady on our concierge confirmed this ofr us and recommended we park on the roof.We took her tip, wow, great views!

We walked through the lobby & had a look In the famous conservatory. I bought a fish Christmas tree decoration which sounds a bit random but it was gorgeous! Laura fell in love with an Easter bunny but when she enquired about the price it was $900!

We walked out & watched the fountains, so beautiful!

Over to Caesars next, we had a quick gamble on the Wheel of Fortune and came away bout $5 up I think. We wondered through the Forum Shops and all the way down to the Cheesecake Factory which I had pegged for lunch. We were seated immediately in the outside section. Me and Laura both had Strawberry Lemonade, Aaron had a D.Coke. I had the lunch size Louisiana chicken pasta & a side salad, Aaron had a steak dish & Laura had the orange chicken. Guess how much she ate!? 2 bites, that’s right! Unbelievable. The food there is massive but she didn’t even make an effort  Aaron cleared his plate for the first time & I nearly managed but not quite, I hate to think how big the normal size pasta dish is!

No room for cheesecake so we paid, $63 plus tip and head back through the casino & over in the direction of Paris. The weather was beautifully hot & sunny. We shopped a bit in paris, Laura bought her mom a few bits from one of the trinket type places and we bought a cuddly ostrich for the baby (Im actually quite embarrassed by how much we bought for an unborn child, we did get a bt carried away)! He was really cute though! $33.

We stopped off at a café for a treat, I had the cherry flan, Laura had a chocolate strawberry & Aaron just stuck with a coffee. $20

We head back to the car next and drove to the north outlets, parking in the multi story. Aaron bought a couple of pairs of Vans but nothing else grabbed us. Laura did get an icre cream that was so pretty!

We head straight from the outlet to Freemont St. On past trips we had never made it over here so I was keen to see it. We took Daytonababe’s tip & valet parked at the Freemont hotel, so easy!

Well what can I say, what a weird place! Some fo the sights were hilarious but it just felt so sleazy! If I was able to I would have loved to have done the zip wire but I guess that can wait for another time!

As it got darker, the people got stranger and after an hour or so we got the car back & drove back to the hotel. OMG, what a journey, it seems the T-Mobile arena by our hotel had hosted some kind of country music awards and we arrived back just as it was emptying. There were police guiding the traffic, we were at standstill for ages and then when we finally got to the car park entrance to our hotel it had been coned off! Grr, we drove round in circles a couple of times and in the end had to ask a policeman the way in. He wasn’t too sure but he stopped traffic to let us through & told us to make a U-turn and try the parallel road to see if there was another way in. We did that, missed the ramp and then finally on the second go, after heading all the way past Mandalay & back round again, we got into the car park! Such a nightmare. A 10 minute journey took us over an hour

It was 9pm by now so we head back out not long after, we took a seat in the outside section of Nine Fine Irishmen and shared some wings. Laura ordered herself a dessert but didn’t eat it. Aaron had a couple of beers. $35.

We head back to the hotel at 10.30pm. Me and Aaron then had a chat & decided to head back down on our own for a bit, we were getting a bit fed up with Laura at this point for taking the enjoyment out of meal times and we just wanted bit of time on our own.

We didn’t spend too long out; we just had a little play on some 5c poke slots and got some free drinks while we played. I think we were in bed just after midnight.

Ah such a shame that Laura is not enjoying the food (I am struggling to see how, American food is the best... that orange chicken looked delicious!). I think sometimes when you always go on holiday just the two of you it's easy to take for granted just how simple it is, throwing someone else into the mix changes the whole dynamic!

Such a great day though and so many beautiful photos, you caught the fountains perfectly! (I would stand there all day and watch them if I could!)

And that cuddly ostrich is too cute, Baby Cooke is a lucky little thing with all these presents already!

She suffered really badly from water retention & swollen feet so I wonder if that had a negative effect on her appetite. It is funny having the three of us there, its not like taking the in laws where there is two of them so you can each go your separate ways occasionally. Without leaving her on her own there was no chance of time for just me and Aaron.

The fountains are incredible aren't they, the ostrich too, so cute! Haha

Friend of mine did Zlotzilla yesterday at Fremont and loved it.

Isn't it a strange place lol.. Yet again when we were there at night we saw toddlers and young children, not a place for them I feel.

Must have been a little frustrating Laura not eating anything? I suffered terribly with my feet this year but I still ate lol ;-)

The Ostrich is so cute.. I miss not having little children to buy things for , So make the most of it .

Oh dear,I can feel the tension! My MIL lived with us for 6 months last year and every mealtime pushed her food around her plate. I feel your pain  not what you want, especially on holiday. Sounds like she wasn't feeling 100% and maybe didn't want to say. Just think in future though, she can babysit and you and Aaron can spend some quality time together great day though, having second thoughts about visiting Fremont street now,we've never done it but I think I'd rather spend time in a nice environment, than somewhere I didn't feel comfortable

A definite reason to go back one day! Like you said, the little one wont be in tow though!

Haha, yes my feet hurt too and never affect my appetite!

Ah, you know then Bit of a nightmare but nothing that major.

Freemont St is definitely worth a quick look, just don't plan a whole evening there!

Abi , did you see creepy Cupid at Fremont ? We missed him this year thankfully but he creeped me out last year . He's well into his 50s wears very little and won't leave people alone I'm surprised he doesn't get a punch in the mouth tbh .

We didn't see many of the odd characters this year. Had told mum and dad to expect them but the whole evening was very tame.

Another great day ( except for MIL...)
Funny to see the Trumoo, my kids were addicted to that when we were there!
I love seeing the bellagio conservatory, so clever! Doesn't take much to impress me
Looking forward to the rest...
Congrats on the pregnancy too

Lovely pics Abi - it looks like the weather was glorious for you.

Oh dear for the slight irritation you were feeling by the end of the day. Glad you got a little bit of time to yourselves, even if it was only for a short time. Hope things improve for you in the days to come.
