Summer 2016 - The Big Birthday Trip - Day 15 : Disney Springs & Home

Trip Index

Time to say goodbye to our first Florida villa! We finished the last of our packing, ears possibly ringing after it felt like one of our neighbours set off a firework in our pool area at 2am. I don’t think that actually happened, but that’s what it sounded like!

Off to Crackerbarrel for our breakfast, and to be honest it wasn’t great. Not a patch on Perkins.

With that done we said our goodbyes to Karen as she was to leave on the earlier flight. We decided to spend the remainder of the day over at Disney Springs. Evidently we learned nothing from our first trip back in 2010!

But it wasn’t too bad for the most part. The heat was pretty fierce, so we stole a lot of air con from the shops while we browsed various pin badges and trinkets.

I decided I needed to do something I’d never done before… I bought in on a Mickey Rice Crispie snack.. It was actually pretty decent too.. But the race to eat it before the chocolate melted left me chasing M&Ms across the floor. Oops.

After a trip to soap shop to check out beer flavoured soap we decided to try and make our way over to the Coca Cola store… But therein lied a problem… We could see it, but we couldn’t get to it! In the heat of the day this wasn’t ideal.

After much wandering we finally found the store and headed for a quick browse of the many not-Pepsi based items. Eventually we decided to spend some time in the Cola bar up on top. We all picked up a Freestyle cup each which entitled us to 5 refills over the next couple of hours or so… I don’t think any of us actually filled our cups five times but it was a reasonable way to kill a bit of time for minimal cost before we decided to make that rather bleh trip toward the airport.

Handing the car in was easy and we made it through security in good time… We them immediately logged on to the airport wifi and started researching the next trip. There’s no point even pretending to ourselves that we weren’t planning on heading back soon! I had a new job to celebrate and celebrating it by booking another trip seemed like the perfect remedy to those post-trip Florida blues.

The journey home was uneventful and pretty soon we found ourselves in the lounge doing a fish based headcount to find that our babies from day one had survived the holiday just fine!
