Shall we, sharn't we, oh for goodness sake book it! Day 9
Not a great nights sleep was had by either of us, I was far too hot and Richard had a stuffy nose so lots of snoring! We're up at 6am by our watches which is actually 7am as we are in Mountain Time.
Off to the onsite restaurant for our free breakfast. We both have an omelette and breakfast potatoes, with drinks it should have been $30, waitress asks if we need any help with the tip. The suggested amounts are on the bill so no we're good thank you. We pop to the supermarket and buy wraps for lunch, we froze some water bottles last night so they'll keep nice and cold in the cool bag. We set off up the switchbacks and through the tunnel which is 1.1 miles long. And coming out the other end! The most fabulous scenery which changes as we leave the park. First we drive through Red Canyon, the rocks are such an unbelievable colour. We enter Dixie Nationsl Forest then onto Bryce Canyon. Our ID is checked entering the park when we use our annual pass. We check in at Ruby's Inn, wow this place has grown since we were last here, we're in Elk block, overlooking the lake. We head into the park and sit and eat our wraps, we see the most stunning bird so we google it, he's a Stellar Jay. We go to Inspiration Point, Sunset Pointand Bryce Point which is over 8000 ft above sea level, I'm sure the air is thinner up here! The scenery is stunning, we see chipmunks, deer, prairie dogs and a huge fat chipmunk which is actually a type of squirrel. We head to Sunrise Point, the sky is sooo blue! Back to our room to discuss dinner options, there aren't many! There's an onsite buffet which is expensive, doesn't include drinks or dessert and to be honest neither of us fancy all you can eat. There's a diner but the food is a bit plastic looking so we're a bit stuck, that's literally it, not even a McDonalds! We head to the grocery store where we buy a bag of Caesar Salad and a sarnie!
