Chasing Sunsets - Day 11 - Epcot and Sweet Tomatoes

DAY 11 – Friday 26th May – EPCOT

Up at our now regular time of 7.15am. The Turkey vultures were right outside our pool today; they hung around for a while. Lee wanted to feed them but he knows he isn’t allowed; besides I am not sure they would like Lucky Charms!

We left for Epcot at 8.30am and parked up just before 9am.

We had a Test Track FP booked for 9.45am. The boys as always wanted to go on Spaceship Earth, they both seem to love this ride.

The CM placed Sue and Dick in a carriage on their own so they could have a kiss and a cuddle on the way round . Afterwards Jacob took on the Super Driver challenge although they should probably rename it the Wayward Driver challenge when Jacob has a go at it. He liked it even if he did crash on every bend.

We headed over to TT via Mousegear. A CM did some magic for the boys, which they were very confused by. We passed the Lightening McQueen topiary on the way to TT, it looked great.

The boys absolutely loved TT especially the bit where they designed the car. However all the adults agreed that Soarin is better than TT. What do you think? When we came off the standby queue was 70 mins and all the FP’s had gone so no chance of another go, which Jacob was not happy with.

Our plan was to go round the World Showcase today but it was only 10.30am so didn’t open for another ½ hour. We tried to persuade the boys to meet Sadness and Joy from Inside Out but neither of them was keen. In the end we just took a slow walk to the World Showcase. We went in the butterfly greenhouse, which was lovely, but absolutely sweltering! The boys then had a play in the small play area, the adults relaxed on the big chairs. In truth we probably could have sat there a lot longer but we had to walk around the world. We started our journey in Mexico.

We went on the boat ride, which was lovely and cool, and the boys enjoyed it. They collected stamps and coloured in flags at every country. Jacob really enjoys this experience and he learns new things every time we go. If you have children between 8 and 12, it is great for them to learn all about the different countries. We took more pictures of the stunning topiary on the way round.

We stopped at the kidcot stop in each country so that Jacob could get a stamp and a flag; it also allowed the adults to have a look around. We stopped for our mandatory ice cream at the African outpost.

We had to be quick though as it was boiling and the sun soon turned into an ice drink. While we stopped we noticed a plane in the sky doing aerobatics. It was actually making a religious message.

We grab some over priced Haribo in Germany, we watched a street act in France. It was a guy balancing on several chairs about 20 feet in the air. Lucas especially loved this.

We also grabbed a proper ice cream in France; I went for my new favourite of Coconut White Chocolate. Our walk round the world had been pleasant as it was not to busy, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky but it was still bearable. We only had the UK and Canada to see. Dick wanted a pint so popped in the Rose & Crown and paid $9 for a pint of Harp! We eventually finished in Canada at 2.15pm, so it had taken us just over 3 hours. We love our walks round the World Showcase and I definitely think the boys learn new things every time we go.

We made a slow walk to the exit, we saw some massive fish in the water by the entrance to WS, and they were around 3ft long. It was now a lot busier and we were glad to be leaving. We had a final picture in front of SE.

Due to our ice cream we were not starving but peckish so we decided to head straight to Sweet Tomatoes for a bit of late lunch. It was great value here; Sue and Dick paid $7.99 due to being senior citizens. We paid $44 for the 4 of us. If you like salad this place is perfect. They also have some great soups. Lee particularly liked the broccoli and potato option. Jacob basically ate anything that was in there, he loves the buffet restaurants. The ice cream machine was also very popular with the boys especially Lee.

After filling our faces we headed back to the villa where we had a lovely relaxing evening in the pool, games room and just generally chilling out. This is why we stay in a villa so we can have evenings like this.

I know what you mean about having nice chilled nights in the villa. We like doing split stays full on the first part of the holiday then more chilled at the end, that's the plan for this year 😁
