ESTA expires mid-trip

My ESTA expires 12 days into my 14 night trip.

After a little research I believe that my ESTA only needs to be valid when I arrive in the USA.

Can anybody confirm this.?

Yes you are correct, it only needs to be valid on the day of entry to US.

You're right. Below is off the U.S. Customs and Border Protection site.

How long is my ESTA approval good for?

Your ESTA authorization is generally valid for multiple trips over a period of two years (starting the date that you are approved) or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. As long as you received an ESTA authorization to travel, you do not have to reapply during the validity period. If your ESTA expires while in the US it will not affect your departure.

The only time this would matter is if you were leaving the US (cruise, Mexico, Canada etc.) in the middle of the trip and then re-entering to finish the US part of your trip after the ESTA expired
