I write a little note on an envelope and have it half hanging out of the letter box. Not usually when I need the loo, I'd like to think they'd wait that long but if I'm on the phone (i.e. a work conference call) or my arthritis is playing up and it's taking me a while to get down the stairs.

I have real problems with this as I use a stair lift so it’s not just calls of nature I dread, if I have to go upstairs for anything I can miss them. Now I just shout out of the nearest window and ask them to wait!

The delivery driver opens the door and leaves the parcel, same as if we're not in.
