Scream if you want to go Fatter! Deluxe DDP to Drive Thru 2018

DW/CMG Lunch - Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous (Islands of Adventure, Seuss Landing)

We were intent on grabbing the nearest greasy burger for lunch today/first day at Universal after all the fine dining at Disney and to celebrate our freedom from the dining plan. This saw us end up at the big circus tent with the long name that must be something Dr Seuss. Inside this place is huge with two mirroring ordering areas.

This process was slow. OMG it was slow. There were all of 6 people in the queue in front of us for food and literally no-one was server anything in the first ten minutes. Round the front there were lots of people standing around discussing the orders, out back this is the crack team I imagined.

Doesn’t help that they had a wide menu of everything from burgers to pizza to spagbol. Anyway DD went for a chicken burger and a milkshake and I had a bacon cheeseburger with a diet coke. Both meals came with fries and I’m fairly sure we were forced to pay for the dessert we didn’t want too because $32.

DD ate most of the chicken burger and said it was okay. When I tried it, vile was the word that came to mind it tasted weirdly of gherkin but DD reckons it was just that corner of the burger? Anyway the chips were fine and my burger was also pretty good as your standard theme park burger goes. No complaints apart from the slow serving process.

Meantime back at the Hard Rock DW had chicken noodle soup that she swore was amazing but looks greasy in her photo.

Not sure how many of those Jameson’s she had got through by the pool . Will post dinner (Antojitos) tomorrow. Cheers

Enjoying the report particularly DxDDP. We have 2 studios booked at BW and are planning adding DXDDP onto one room and sharing. It may not be cost effective but at least it will be pre paid! We aren't big eaters but like one decent meal a day. I have never considered M. Paul so thanks for that.

Glad you're enjoying the report, thanks for reading. Monsieur Paul was lovely and is very low profile among the signatures. Sharing the DX may make it more manageable I can see that

we're total Universal noobs and may as well have walked around with please sell us rubbish written on us My only plan for lunch in the parks had been Simpsons Food Court and we ended up in the wrong park after riding Hulk so it was pick the closest place Promise to go back and read all your earlier Universal reviews!

I've heard of that one isn't it table service though? We were determined on the first universal days to consume only proper junk food at least during the day hence the ice cream and burgers I admit it, Universal noob!

They do have burgers so I guess you can call it fast food.my husband had the bleu cheese crusted pork last year and declared it the best meal of the holiday ! Ds is a FUSSY eater and demolished the calamari starter 😦

Sorry but went to Mythos expecting great things with all the hype. Doesn't come close to expectations "Best Theme Park Restaurant in the World", screams the banner. Not even close! #fakereviews

For better or worse we'd planned to avoid the table service in the Universal Parks after an overdose at Disney and stick to QS. Those dishes sound nice though and will have a look at Mythos for next time. I have heard it criticised as YLL says below but also some people give very good reviews and I aso have a soft spot for well themed restaurants if it ticks that box Thanks for reading and the advice.

Be nice I've heard a mix of good and bad reviews of Mythos so it's obviously a bit hit and miss. And yes that podcast we both like makes fun of the Best claim that has been up there for the last 15 years
