Dior Sauvage / Eau de Sauvage

We had our friend round for lunch the other day and he smelt fab. He told me his aftershave was Sauvage by Dior. I would love to get my husband some but there is Sauvage Eau De Parfum, EDT also Eau De Suavage. Wont be able to get into town for a little while so can not go and see which one it is yet... anyone have any experience on this aftershave and are they all similar smells.

Thank you. x

DS had the Sauvage , the one Johnny Depp advertises and it is lovely, so I think this may be what you are after. Luckily my sister works in The Perfume Shop, so he got it for his birthday from her.

This was my late husband's favourite.

I was reading an article about Doris day in Vanity Fair about forty years ago and she was saying whenever she went into the Beverly Hills Hotel for lunch the dining room always smelt of Au Sauvage and Shalimar.

The next time we went to Cardiff we nipped into one of the big dept., stores to see if they carried them, I was that curious.

They both smelt absolutely to die for divine. Dave and I both bought our respective ones and never looked back.

It's good to know that the Au Sauvage is still holding up, the top note is lemon/citrus. I'd go for the parfum, it's more concentrated.

Unfortunately for me, Shalimar didn't hold up. About fifteen years ago most of the perfume houses stopped using oils (too expensive) and had chemists duplicate their smells with chemicals. The irony of which was the packaging costs more than the perfume therein.

Guerlain and Chanel were casualties of this so No 5 was also a no go for me from then on.

The Shalimar and No 5 of old. I'd give a kings ransom to smell that again … : - )

Not sure and could be totally wrong but to me it sounds like the same aftershave just in two different forms, toillette & Parfum.

EDT is a slightly watered down version, the kind you can just spray liberally.

EDP is more concentrated (and more expensive) where you only need a couple of dabs.
