Electric only house

like Mazbar we are in a 3 bedroom semi- all electric with storage heaters ( biggest challenge is predicting the weather) and emersion for hot water (2 ads and 2 kids). washing machine 5 x a week dishwasher 3, driers used 3 hours a week in the winter time. our direct debit is currently £149 p/m and that was an increase due to clod winter just passed. up until June it has been £122 for a long time and we would always be in credit by November and then it would even out by April due to the increased cost in winter. I suspect we could cut it be replacing all our windowa and doors as they are around 10 years old now and increasing the loft insulation .unfortunately we re to fond of going to Florida.

I have a flat in London which is all electric.

I moved in last year and it had night storage heaters which it turns out didn't work.

I had electric radiators installed with independent timers and thermostats so I can get heat on demand rather than predicting the next days temperature in advance.

For a 2 bed flat I am paying about 250 a quarter.

I wouldn't want an all electric detached house by choice but it is fine for the flat.

Also how well insulated your house is mine is an old brick built semi so very well insulated anyway - also I have a large south facing window that heats the house nicely on sunny days even in winter.
Also will you heat every room? I don't and that saves a lot, It's easier to heat just where you need with electric - my bedrooms are heated for an hour before bed and an hour in the morning, living room all evening, dining room an hour before dinner. I have a 3kw wall heater in the bathroom heats the room in 5 minutes.
My electric bill is £50 a month but I also have a woodburner so I don't use only electric heaters

Hi can I pick your brain about the fischer heaters I have ordered the brochure but it has no prices in it, what sort of price did you pay for a radiator?,do they have to be fitted by an electrician or do they just plug in,also do you have economy 10 or economy 7 sorry for all the questions thanks in advance

I live in rural Scotland so no mains gas and my 3 bed terraced house is all electric. We have very new and modern storage heaters (not the horrendous old ones with the bricks!). The heaters are controllable and give out great heat. We tend not to use them in two of the bedrooms much of the year, only if it’s really cold. We also have an electric fire in the living room. Our current electricity cost is £117 per month. The worst thing for us is heating hot water - nightmare. We are on economy 7 and the water heater heats up the water overnight but it’s never enough for all of us (5 in the house). We use the booster to get more hot water at least once a day, sometimes twice.
