Mobile Garage door

We are having our house roughcasted just now and now it shows up our garage door. We would like to replace it as it doesnt lock and it always comes off the runners. Before i get a few quotes does anyone have a rough idea of what i should expect to pay? Looking for a plain white up and over door, nothing fancy! Thanks!

I like Hormann. Good engineering and they don't rust.

For a single up and over in a metal frame circa £750 to £800 fitted.

If you want I can put a picture on of mine. I paid £650 but that was 8 years ago and they have gone up in price.

Ours was a garadoor up and over ordinary white door - fitted for £770 last year - but they gave us £80 off full price for the scrap value of our old heavier door.

Would not want to do it myself seeing the faff they had - imperial sized hole, metric sized door... they made it look good as well as being secure though.

Garadoor price list here

We are also going for Hormann.
A sectional, insulated electric door. 9' wide. Cost £1000 +vat (we are only paying 5% vat so £1050)

Easy to fit but even I didn't do it as the local supplier throws in fitting for free.

Now you can order online and fit yourself. I wouldn't as they do dent easily and it's a right faff to get them collected and a new one delivered.

Six Rawlbolts staright into the brickworks. (3 each side)

Make good with uPVC 'D' Mould up the sides to cater for metric v imperial differences.

Good old Garador! Good quality.

When I worked for George Wimpey I must have fitted hundreds of these. The ones with the cylindrical concrete weight that was paper wrapped. God help you if one of those fell on your foot!

I work for a local garage door Company - have worked there for over 25 years as their accountant. Garador and Hormann are now one and the same even though they still trade seperately. The prices you have been given on this thread are there or thereabouts. Think it depends on where in UK you live. We are based in North West and there’s plenty of competition here.
