If you are having to rod more and more there is a collapse somewhere I suspect as once a jet wash or rodding is done it should be fine from then on.

Normally it's a design fault or a laying fault not a collapse. For both of the former that means digging and relaying. Big job!

Is Dyno Rod owned by British Gas now? Maybe give them a bell.

Are you sure your pipes aren't covered under your Water rates? Mine are for a lot of the length but that's Welsh Water.

That would be my fiost port of call, check your Water Co out.

Have you had a drains expert in to give you advice?

What are the drain pipes made of? I ask because some time back some houses round us had drains made from tar and something like hessian! Eventually they squash down and need rounding again.

Our DD’s house has pitch fibre and the drains needed to be rounded as they were in the process of buying the house. The seller’s buildings insurance covered the work necessary. I imagined them having to have the garden dug up but it wasn’t necessary and the work was done in no time.

Just a note on where responsibility lies for drains following a change to the law a number of years ago.

Where your drain serves multiple properties then it is the responsibility of the water company however the stretch from that point to your property is the householder's responsibility.

On this basis the key would be where the problem lies and hopefully it is within the communal drain. Do you know your neighbours as if they also have problems it is probably a good indication that the problem is in the communal drain.

I found this on the Welsh water site. I suspect most Companies have a similar policy

If the problem is on Welsh Water’s pipes, then we aim to a have jetting crew with you within 4 hours of being contacted. However during busy periods (eg during heavy rain) there may be a delay which we will tell you the time of calling.

If things change after we have spoken to you, or we are going to be late we will always try to let you know.

Once a jetting crew arrives we will investigate to identify the blockage location. Our regulatory responsibility is to clear blockages in public sewers and transferred assets If the blockage is on our sewer network, we will clear it for you free of charge.

If we attend a blockage that is found to be on the private sewage pipe we can offer a service to clear the blockage for a charge of £84.00 plus VAT or you can use a private drainage contractor to clear the blockage. Our charge covers up to an hour's work and if we are unable to clear the blockage, you will not be charged.

Maybe worth spending that amount to see what your Company can do?

Definitely try your water company. If they are there's it's free. If it's yours they'll put a camera down anyway and tell you the issue.
