Mobile Staying in London, very nervous.

So we have a long journey from North West England next May down to the Eurostar. We've decided to travel by train day before and stay overnight, then same on way back. We are not regular travellers and never go on train. I'm also very anxious and worry about everything. I'm now concerned for safety in London with young son and the thoughts of walking just 15mins from Euston to a premier inn scares me, as does the size and crowds of the stations themselves. DH would like to look at British Museum while we're there (neither of us have ever been to London) but i worry about getting in a dodgy taxi or on the wrong bus. Don't even get me started on terrorism! Any tips or reassurances please?

It will be fine! Try not to worry about it too much, it’s very easy to get around London . If you don’t fancy doing the tube and are worried about taxis then use Uber! They’re very good and safe. Once out of the station crowds walking to your hotel shouldn’t be a problem! It’s busy but manageable. Just take it slow and try not to panic!

We have just come back from 4 days in London. We travelled all over and never saw any trouble and felt safe everywhere we went. There is big police presence too due to the demonstrations but we walked through one to get to Trafalgar Square and it was good natured. Every time we got on the tube we were offered seats (we are past our sell by date) and twice when reading the map people asked if we needed help. Stop worrying. You will be fine.

I feel the same when I go up North

Central London is full of tourists and office workers and very safe. Just take care crossing the roads looking out for changing lights and cyclists and you'll be fine. Avoid the rush hour times for more reasonable volumes on the tube etc. or get a black cab. British Museum is awesome btw

I don't mean to startle you but the threat from Islamic Terrorism is considerably higher in Mainland Europe than it is in the UK, especially at somewhere as iconic as DLP.

And as for violent crime, unless you are a gang nominal, you'll be pretty safe getting between stations and hotels

If you don’t want to use the tube there are plenty of buses.

I m9ved to London 27 years ago from a small Welsh town and absolutely love it. One of the safest places to be is central London as you are never isolated and always near help.

Why not arrange to meet up with some Dibbers who can show you around?

I’ve lived in West London all my life, I go into a central London a few times a year and feel safe. I would be more worried about walking round here late at night than Central London. You will be fine go for it x
