If worst comes to worst- do your council offer a collection service?- ours do for a small charge.

My late Mum had some lovely furniture and the Heart Foundation had some of it as the fire ≈≈≈≈≈≈ant labels were legible.

Some I put on Free Ads for free. The time wasters did my head in. In the end I did better on E Bay for collect only.
I was putting stuff on for a fiver just to get rid of it.

It's not always bad, The seller of my house left something behind that I didn't find for a few weeks and turned out to be quite valuable...

Just wanted to pop back and update you all!

BHF came on Sat to get the sofa, however once they took the cushions off it turned out the sofa was in fact a sofa bed. The mechanism was unscrewed on one side so they then wouldn't take it which is fair enough as it's broken. But I was still so annoyed we were now back to being stuck with it!

Stuck it on Facebook marketplace for free and I guess it being a sofa bed made it more attractive (even broken) as had lots of interest and someone took it within a couple of hours.

I think its now safe to say that the last owners were not being nice by leaving us a broken sofa bed. We've also been in the shed now (was too wet last weekend) and there's a little bit of junk in there but not too much to clean out. Not managed the attic yet as hubby hurt his knee.

However we have also discovered that they (And their dog) left us a lovely present of a flea infestation. So we'll have to go over with a can of indorex this week before we move in. Just what we need!

Wow
What is nice about leaving extra stuff cluttering up a property . Most people move straight from one home to another so would have ended up with nowhere to put their own sofa so hardly "nice" or a "gift". If they were nice they would have contacted the buyer and offered to leave it.

I had this once , I declined their washing machine but we had issues unplumbing our own on moving day , so I contacted our buyers who told me to just leave it as they were gutting the property before moving in anyway. I expected to buy a new machine ... but in fact the sellers had left theirs behind (and it lasted another four years) however realistically I was lucky as had I brought my own as I expected to do I'd have had nowhere to put it. It was Nice but had I had my own as I expected to nice would have changed to an inconvenience and expense.

My sellers left a battered tin pub tray branded with a well known beer. I stuck it on eBay and got £20 for it and a grateful email from an American seller who gave it pride of place in the bar they had built in their basement. One (wo)man's trash can indeed be another man's treasure

Oh no that is awful I thought the carpets being manky and smelly in this house was bad but at least there isn't anything living in it! I know money is always tight when moving but I think I would just have to ditch them all, I'd be forever wondering if I had rid of them all. Good luck with sorting it. x

It's horrible but having a cat we aren't total strangers to fleas! Really hoping it's not too bad and the indorex sorts them out as it usually does. We're going to have to treat our old house as well just in case we've brought any back with us too. Great fun!

Genuinely, just get someone in to fumigate the house - that's what we did when we discovered the same situation. No problem since.
