U.S. Testing - Plan to open travel Corridor from NYC to London

Whilst it isn’t confirmed as yet, it is good to see that they are working towards getting the travel corridor opened by the holidays. Makes me feel as though our trip for Summer 2021 could be a possibility.

What type of tests would they be though as i think the pcp tests can not tell the difference between a cold and covid?

Still won't make a difference to general travel until the FCO lifts its no non-essential travel advice.

Obviously, however they have to start somewhere.

Looks like a regurgitation of the articles from July where nothing actually came of it. Is there anything actually new that is real action since then?

This article seems to have a bit more information (with a quote from the CEO of Heathrow), however nothing concrete as yet.

Neither article mentions anything about requiring presidential endorsement - which it must. I cant honestly see this happening at the moment and given the current Presidents view on New York I feel it is highly unlikely at the moment - he has larger crocodiles circling around his canoe

But then again who knows - somehow I can see all the planets alleging yet despite CEO of LHR being, as you would expect the CEO of UK largest airport to be, optimistic. All we can do at the moment is sit back and hope . . . . . .

It’s a small glimmer of hope isn’t? Rather surprised the usually positive DIBBers aren’t feeling that way 😔

I personally would hope that the CEO’s of these large companies would be completely motivated to get their businesses safely ‘up and running’ with the full support of the Government (And the Government’s of the participating countries). There has to be a starting point and if this means beginning talks (again) regarding how to implement testing and then show exactly how they will roll it out, then I am all for it.
