The best way to book a holiday which includes an extra teenager?

Hi all,

I’m thinking ahead to next October, with the hope that we will be able to return to Orlando. I’ve agreed that my son can bring along his girlfriend and they are very excited about it.

I also realise that they are only 17, and so a lot can happen in the 11 months between booking the trip and actually going on the holiday!

I therefore wondered what was the best thing to do about reservations? I am going to get her parents to book her theme park tickets themselves to keep that straight forward, but I was wondering about the British Airways fly drive, I was thinking that would be better for me to book for all of us as then I can make sure we are all seated together etc, but in the event of cancelling her ticket, would that be difficult to do and still keep the bookings for the rest of us?

Accommodation is straight forward as I am using our DVC points and it just means we would have more space if she didn’t come, & whilst I’m booking two nights at universal, I’m just going to ask her mum to pay the £150 difference in accommodation costs as we will need somewhere big enough for the five of us rather than the room we’d of booked for four of us, so again it would just mean we’d have larger accommodation than we needed.

Is there anything else I need to think about? They have been friends for many years and boyfriend/girlfriend on and off since they were 11, without ever really falling out, so I am quietly confident all will be ok, but as I say, I think it’s still sensible to know how easy things can be amended if things do go wrong!

not 100% sure she will be 17 but we took my daughters pal then 14 to tenerife & we got a signed (both her parents) letter stating we had permission to take her out of the country, to stay with us, make medical emergency decisions etc

she obviously had her own insurance was covered by her families policy, her dad is a serving police officer & was through the police

going into spain they didnt ask but on return to the UK we did get questioned but not asked to prove anything

I have booked a flydrive and had to remove a person with BA- it was all fine , they do charge a fee and just took off the price of one person. I also did try to add a person before to a flydrive booking but that wasn't allowed so had to buy flight on its own. My youngest took his girlfriend last year with us and they were both 17- it was her first time and its lovely taking someone for the first visit. I was worried about same thing as you even though they have been together for years but it was all good.
