For those who don’t write trip reports

Do you still do a ‘diary’? Or do you let your pictures and memories be the only reminder?

I write emails to my family every day when we’re away saying what we’ve done etc and when we get home I write them up for myself to read and use photos we’ve taken to fill in any gaps. I find it really therapeutic.

I’d never subject anyone to reading all my waffle so I’d never put it online!

On past trips I have kept diaries but I am usually so tired at the end of the day I don't write a lot but when I look back on them they are nice to have just to remind us on what we did.

I always write a diary while we are on a trip to record my thoughts. I like to look back on them later.

I usually write up each day in a notebook, then write up fully later on.

I keep a travel journal that I update daily while I am away, I make notes of what we did and where we went etc. Sometime I will print small pics to stick in too. When we are home I scrapbook the trip.

I like reading waffle.
Didn’t even know a trip report was a “thing” before the dibb and we never did one but I enjoyed writing a trip report. Even if there is only me that might read them cos I’ll forget.

Being a sad retired Quantity Surveyor it may come as no surprise that I keep a master Excel spread sheet covering about 32 of our visits back to around 1998.

I record where we had breakfast and dinner with the cost, what we did during the day and the weather. I don't record trips to Publix but if we went to Winter Park for instance I just block out the half day. Not actually sad enough to say we left villa at 9.45 and arrived WP at 10.28 and bought a soda at 10.56.

Not surprisingly I also have a spread sheet showing the State Plates we've spotted over the past 20 holidays and also the £/$ exchange rates since around 2001.

No trip reports or diaries, I rely on memories and photos. DH sometimes keeps things like tickets, information leaflets.

I like to write a few notes as I go along. My memory isn't great and neither are my photography skills so it's a nice to read through them (when they are legible!) I've also used them to make scrap books in the past
