We came back last Saturday after spending a week there. We've been before but only for a few days so this time we explored more places off the beaten track. We had 2 days on Lido too at the beach, beautiful and very quiet and well organised. The main tourist areas were busier than I expected but not as busy as they usually are. We love Venice,it's so beautiful. Regarding the covid measures,we felt completely safe as everything was being done correctly, masks enforced indoors and on public transport,we also wore them outside in the busy tourist areas, rialto bridge etc. We found the disposable masks more comfortable in the heat. Everywhere had sanitiser and some places took temperature on entry but not all. Weather was perfect, sunny every day,not humid at all and gloriously warm on an evening. Italy are coping with covid19 far better than we are in the UK,as evidenced every day we were there and by their falling infection rates despite more testing. I'd recommend it as a very safe place to visit in these crazy times we live in. Any questions just ask.

We went to Venice in August, we drove from Lake Garda and spent the day there. We loved it, it was our first visit so nothing to compare our day crowd wise.

We went the last week of August
Edinburgh flights, 30 other people on the flight. Venice was very subdued, one night my family were the only ones in st marks square. All the tourist places seemed extremely quiet. Some shops are still closed but plenty open to go around. All in all we had a great week. Went to all the surrounding islands and felt very safe. You didn’t have to wear face coverings walking around but on entering shops, restaurants and boats you had to cover up. But a good time was had by us all. |
